(KON-truh-IN-dih-KAY-shun) Anything (including a symptom or medical condition) that is a reason for a person to not receive a particular treatment or procedure because it may be harmful.

Massage therapy during pregnancy has been shown to be beneficial for a number of common complaints such as fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, sciatica, edema and many others. However, there are risks associated with specific conditions that may occur during pregnancy.
You MUST inform your massage therapist/practitioner if you've had any of the following conditions or symptoms in the past which may make massage therapy during pregnancy contraindicated or may require your therapist/practitioner to alter the massage.

Drug exposure

Multiples

Hypertension

Genetic abnormalities

Fetal growth retardation

Decrease in fetal movement over a 24-hour period

Severe nausea or vomiting

History of an high risk pregnancy

Severe headaches

Diarrhea

History of miscarriage

Gestational Diabetes

Pitting edema

Epilepsy or the convulsive disorders

Placenta or the cervical dysfunction

Abdominal pain

Leaking of the amniotic fluid

Fever

Sudden edema/swelling

Bloody discharge

Sudden weight gain

Cardiac, pulminary, liver or renal disorders

Mothers age under 20 or over 35
You will be prompted to fill out all of your required forms online prior to your appointment. If for any reason you're not able to fill out the correct forms online, please arrive 10-15 minutes early before your scheduled appointment so you have time to properly read and fill out your forms.
